Will snorting ground up medicine like ibuprofen make it work better and faster? I heard that the preferred method of ingesting cocaine is to snort it. By doing this, the "high" hits you much faster. So what if you were to snort grinded up pain medicine? Will this make the medicine work faster compared to ingesting it orally?

neoconammo replied: "Yea street knowledge is always better than the doctors so have at it pal."

www.thought_fire replied: "no but it will destroy your liver that way, most pain pills have a coating on them that will give you a nose bleed.try BC it works the fastest.and take all your pills with cafine"

bezerkangel replied: "Actually if you went via blood vessels it would be much quicker. Such as your Arsehole. This is why morphine is sometimes administered anally to those in extreme pain. I wouldn't reccomend it though."

tweeker1915 replied: "yes it will. normally when u pop a pill for anything it takes time to digest in your body. I would not recommend doing it all the time. Your nose is very sensitive and just like cocaine it will do the same damage. I suggest trying to suck on your pill,(I know gross), but it has the same affect."

sugarlips replied: "anything that is liquid or that has be grind Willl work faster. (some pills will take a long time to dissolve). the only medication you wil put in your nose is the medication that is made to go into the nose if you need quick relief grind and drink with water or juice."

Can I take ibuprofen or any headache medicine if I'm taking prescribed antihistamines? I woke up with a headache and I’m taking prescribed antihistamines and prescribed nasal spray for allergies, will taking any type of headache medicine have a negative effect on me. I’m not sure if I should take something or not. Any thoughts?

R. Gaspari replied: "There is no drug interaction between the antihistamines and ibuprofen. It is, indeed, safe to take them together."

Crystal Violet replied: "A normal dose shold be fine, just follow the dirrections on the package. Ibuprofen is a very common medicine, doctors/ pharmacists assume people take it sometime. If you were specifically NOT supposed to take it, they would have mentioned. For example, (being a girl) every time I am prescribed antibiotics, they ALWAYS tell me it can interfer with birthcontrol pills, even if I'm not on them. Also certain antidepressants can't be mixed with ANYTHING, but they drowned you in the literature so their is no question. If the headache gets worse, or doesn't get better in a couple days, call you doc."

La replied: "I believe it is ok to take the two together without any drug interactions, as I do know someone who does this and is fine."

What is better, homeopathic medicine (herbs, etc.) or conventional medicine (paracetamol, ibuprofen etc.)? i just want your honest opinion because i was asked the question for chemistry and i really don't know which is best. thanks for helpin

Steve P replied: "Conventional drugs offer a quick fix for pain and other symptoms but they only treat the symptoms and not the cause. Natural medicine and nutrition strengthen the body and give it what it needs to heal itself. It is a slower approach to wellness but it provides permanent results."

tiny Valkyrie replied: "I'm a strong believer in both, as they are meant to work in tandem. You don't need to take Nexium when a simple change in diet, probiotics and aloe vera can ease acid reflux. And equally there are times that you can literally swim in herbal concoctions, but an antibiotic would be more far more effective in treating an infection, especially if it's located in an internal organ."

Momma Becca replied: "Homeopathic, i'm a firm believer in LONG term results, most conventional medicines give you a quick fix, or a temp. solution. changing your diet and adding a few herbs like golden seal are great for the immune system, and help you to avoid getting sick....medicine only helps you once you are sick."

rickyoutfield replied: "Both Herbs and drugs force the body to do something it normally wouldn't do. However, herbs can be less toxic to the body then laboratory made drugs. Homeopathic is a small amount of something that creates a change, it isn't toxic. Using nutrients gives the body the tools it needs to fix a problem - a health challenge. The body runs on nutrients and will use those nutrients. Drugs cover up the symptoms. They do not address the cause. It is like having a fire in the living room. The house fills with smoke. You can put a fan in the window and the house will not have the smoke. But, the fire is still going to consume the house."

Is there a stronger OTC medicine than Ibuprofen, Tylenol, etc.? I've had pain in both knees, and my neck and right arm. Anything stronger to help the pain? Thanks.

LiarLiarPantiesOnFire replied: "Not in my opinion, no. None help me at all. Try asking your doc for prescription strength Ibuprofen. It's better help."

Just Me replied: "In UK it is branded as Volterol, it is stronger because it contains the strong Anti Inflammatory and mild Analgesic drug Diclofenac. Ask a pharmacist for a OTC that contains Diclofenac/ Diclofex. This is stronger if this fails you may need to get Naproxen from a Dr. I use strong Opiates for Rheumatoid Arthritis pain that is chronic"

doogle replied: "excedrin is good for neck pain- tension headaches"

Ibuprofen and allergy medicine together? My baby is 18 months old and well within the age and weight range for infants ibuprofen and infants allergy medicine. I was wondering if anyone call tell me if I can give her both at the same time?? The allergy medicine is baby Zyrtec, the active ingredient is loradadine(sp?) thank you for your help!! I can't get in touch with her doctor right now. thank you for your help!

jon replied: "Take Good care of her ! She looks nice!"

Amanda H replied: "call the pharmacy, they can tell you what NOT to take with certain medicine i think it would be ok to have the allergy med + some ibuprophen as long as she has had it before with no problems with either one"

What medicine should I take to make a stuffy nose not stuffy and some what normal? I have this killer stuffy nose and I can't breath!! What medicine should I take so it isn't like this? Allergy medicine, ibuprofen, advil!?! Please help me!!

Susan M replied: "guaifenisen. It is sold as "mucinex", but that brand is expensive. The generic is very cheap and safe and works well. Just drink lots of water."

Roberta P replied: "Decongestants such as sudafed if you don't have heart problems, high blood pressure, thyroid problems or diabetes. Allergy medicines work on allergy symptoms like itchy watery eye and runny nose. Advil which is ibuprofen works on inflammation and pain not stuffy noses. But it will relieve some of the sinus pressure if you have that."

Ibuprofen question for those who are faimilar with medicine? Silly question but can one overdoes on it? Like how many would they need in order to OD? What would it feel like to OD on it? Sorry, just curious.

patticharron replied: "Ibuprofen can kill you, but not in a single dose. There is no set lethal dose of ibuprofen. I don't think yours is a "silly" question, but I do find it highly disturbing. Any amount of ibuprofen in excess of the recommended dose is in fact an "overdose." An "overdose" does not necessary kill someone. Ibuprofen, taken in excess and over a period of time, has devastating effects on the liver. This then would lead to a long, painful, protracted, miserable death. There are far better ways to do oneself in. If you are obsessed with the experience of death, there are a lot of really good books on the subject. "How We Die" is excellent."

GladI'mGone replied: "You just would get good and sick and feel like a semi ran into your stomach. With any luck you will blow out your kidneys and liver, and suffer more pain than you could ever imagine. You will do permanent damage."
